NAJWA SHIHAB

Najwa Shihab, or more familiarly called Nana, was born in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on September 16, 1977 and she is the second daughter of an Indonesian Muslim leader and Minister of Religion during the VII Development Cabinet era, Quraish Shihab. Najwa Shihab's name emerged thanks to reports from Aceh, when the Tsunami disaster struck in December 2004. His coverage and reports are considered to have contributed to the widespread concern and empathy of the wider community for this humanitarian tragedy.

In personal life, Najwa Shihab has a husband named Ibrahim Assegaf and married at a young age of 20 years. From this marriage, he has a son named Izzat Assegaf (17 years) and a baby girl named Namiya who died at the age of 4 hours after his birth.

Regarding the profile of her family life, Nana lives in a religious family. He spent his kindergarten education period at the Al-Quran Kindergarten in Makassar. Elementary school at Madrasah Ibtidaiyah Nurul Hidayah (1984-1990), then Al-Ikhlas Middle School, Jeruk Purut, South Jakarta, in 1990-1993. Activities until high school, led by his mother, Nana and five of her siblings, had to be at home since sunset. "So we gather at sunset, recite the Koran, then Ratib Haddad together. It was a family ritual until I was in high school.” After college, because there are many activities, Nana is only allowed to go out after sunset. He lives with a family who is very concerned about the education factor.

When she entered college, Najwa Shihab studied at the University of Indonesia majoring in Law and graduated in 2000. Even though she graduated as a Law Degree, Nana prefers to be involved in journalism rather than becoming a lawyer.

Nana started her career at RCTI, and in 2001 she chose to join Metro TV because the station was considered more responsive to her great interest in journalism.

However, in August 2017, through an episode of Notes Without Dots on his show entitled Mata Najwa, he officially resigned from Metro TV which had made his name. And on January 10 2018, together with Trans 7, Najwa Shihab came back with the talk show Mata Najwa which still occupies the same slot as on Metro TV, which is Wednesday at 20:00 WIB.

Najwa Shihab is the only female journalist who interviewed almost all national political figures through the “Mata Najwa” program which was broadcast on the Metro TV television station. Najwa was the first person to interview President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono when he finished his inauguration.

Until now, Najwa is still active as a journalist. Najwa diligently produces journalistic content such as interviewing figures in Indonesia, making investigative news which he then broadcasts on his Mata Najwa Youtube channel. Had a vacuum on television, Najwa Shihab is back through Mata Najwa which is now broadcast on Trans7 TV station.
